Capable of shooting 8MP stills, recording full HD 1080p video at 30fps, or HD 720p video at 60fps, the Braun Champion is an affordable action cam to rival the GoPro HERO. The camera’s fixed lens offers a wide 120° shooting angle with an aperture of f/2.9. Images and videos can be triggered remotely using the included remote control, or the Champion’s built-in Wi-Fi, via a smartphone app that live streams footage.
When sealed inside its included waterproof housing, the camera can operate at an impressive depth of 45m, so it’s ideal for divers and surfers. Bundled with the camera are mounts for helmet, surfboard and handlebar alongside a suction cup fitting. This allows it to be attached to just about any extreme sports gear imaginable. Also in the box is a car charger, so never again should you be caught out by a dead battery.
Image quality is competitive with similarly-priced action camera models, although sound quality could be better. Switching between different modes and settings could also be smoother. Overall, build quality isn’t amazing, but it remains an impressive entry-level action camera. And with the attachments and Wi-Fi remote included in the box, you’ve got everything you need to get started.
Decent image quality and comprehensive accessories give deliver a good entry-level action camera.
