Calumet may be better known for its high street stores than its own-brand products, but its wireless triggers are well respected in the industry.
Providing a solid 150m range, the set includes a single receiver and transmitter. While the receiver allows manual control of flash power only, the transmitter’s pass-through hotshoe is TTL compatible. The frequency used during shooting can be selected from four channels using a slider on the side of each device, and there’s also the option to assign flashes to one of four groups for more complex lighting setups. Both devices also have a 3.5mm port for a PC sync cable. Using the included shutter release cables, the Quad Plus can be used as a wired or remote release. These solid-feeling triggers are powered via two AAA batteries, and additional receivers cost £50. An excellent value set that offers a few more advanced options over the Hahnel.
