The follow-up to Phottix’s popular Strato triggers, this Strato II kit takes all of its predecessor’s best features and adds a few improvements.
Now with a larger 150m range, this set has four frequency channels, selected by a slider on the side of each device. There’s also the option to place the receivers into four separate groups. The transmitter has a pass-through hotshoe with TTL compatibility, although there’s no option to use it wirelessly. Users of the original Strato system will be pleased to hear that their old receivers are compatible with the new transmitter, along with several other models manufactured by the company.
A wake-up function that automatically ‘turns on’ a sleeping flashgun is a nice touch (also found on the Calumet Quad Plus), as is the ability to use the set as a remote shutter system using the included adapters. Powered by two AAA batteries, extra receivers are available separately for £45.
