Here's our review of the versatile Joby GorillaPod Focus
Joby has produced GorillaPod tripods for many years now and, while a lot of them are aimed at the casual smartphone/point-and-shoot user, it also has a range directed squarely at the DSLR market. The Focus is a flexible multi-jointed and fully articulated tripod.
Joby's Focus doubles as a clamp
Perfectly adequate as a traditional mini tripod, the Focus really comes into its own when used to clamp a camera to surfaces such as branches or railings for unique perspectives. It can also be securely attached to the outside of a kit bag to save space inside.
While it may not be the sturdiest tripod on test – and can’t be extended beyond its own 29cm height (37cm with head) – it is the most versatile model here, especially when paired with the supplied Ballhead X head. The Focus might not appeal to the more traditional market, but with so many possible uses it’s hard to overlook.
